Countdown to Kickoff Event (2008)

July 18 & 19, 2008 were the dates for the 3rd Annual Countdown to Kickoff. The organizers for this year's event were Matt and Jon Stinchcomb, along with David Greene, all former football greats at the University of Georgia. (Click here to see the article that appeared in the Atlanta Journal Constitution following the event.)

This event was a fundraising event for three organizations: On Friday evening (7/18/2006), a special group of invitees participated in a auction activities at The Classic Center in downtown Athens. (Mouse over each picture to learn more about it.)

Matt, along with his brother Jon, an offensive tackle for the New Orleans Saints and David Greene, a quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Doug helped to kickoff the auction with a great Dawg cheer.

This was a treasured item at the silent auction. It featured the Dawgs in last year's famous Blackout game against Auburn. Doug was lucky to be the winning bidder.

The following day was a gala happening at the UGA practice football field next to the Stegman Collesium. A large number of former and current UGA football players were there to sign autographs and visit with the attendees.

This was the biggest and best attended Countdown to Kickoff activity ever. We expect that next year will be even better supported and attended. Go Dawgs!
